"Seedstars is very excited to launch the Sustainable Development Goals Challenge together with the Financial Times to empower impact-driven entrepreneurs in emerging markets and provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to scale their businesses and secure funding thanks to our global community of expert mentors and investors.
The choice of focusing on the Sustainable Development Goals was due to tackling the most pressing local and global issues connected to Gender Equality, Climate Action, Quality Education, Good Jobs and Economic Growth, Reduced Inequalities, and Good Health and Wellbeing. We believe that together we can create the much-needed impact to reduce inequalities and provide fair access to opportunities for startups around the world."
The FTxSDG Challenge, powered by the Financial Times and Seedstars, has a mission to empower impact-driven entrepreneurs in emerging markets through a startup competition split in thematic challenges based on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals.
From June to November each year, the Seedstars team looks for the most promising early-stage startups from 90+ emerging markets that will receive intensive training on how to be investment-ready. They will take part in local, regional, and global stage competitions, but only one of them will be crowned as the Global Winner and receive a prize of up to USD 500,000 in equity investment.
